“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Vegan for the animals and the planet.
Raw Fruitarian for my health.
My name is Rebecca Rosenberg, and I have been vegan for the animals since 2009, but still got very sick. I began my raw vegan fruitarian journey on October 12, 2014 to battle “incurable” debilitating Multiple Sclerosis, in addition to Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism, Hypoglycemia (pre-diabetes), High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Alcoholism, Benzo Withdrawal/Damage (as prescribed), Caffeine Addiction, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Depression, Acid Reflux, and Obesity. I lost 80 pounds, quit all medications, regained function of my body and mind, and found new purpose in sharing this healing message with anyone it may help.

A few things I have learned and wish to share with you:
-Patience, consistency, time, and the conscious act of making a decision to succeed each and every day were all key to healing from diseases. Never expect it to be easy, although it does get easier. Every day is a new choice to do everything in your power to heal yourself.
-No food is worth throwing this away. Food is just a temporary taste for a few moments, and then it’s gone. Healing is a life-saving “miracle” that keeps on giving back. While I didn’t enjoy my food completely at first, my new health food “medicine” quickly became more pleasurable, as I became more grateful for this healing magic.
-Healing with a raw low-fat fruit-based diet triggers emotional, mental, and spiritual healing and unblocking as well. “Detox” happens on all levels. I have done more healing and personal growth in the last thousand days than I have in decades of stagnation, frustration, confusion, fear, and struggle. Diet is really that powerful of an influence over us down to the cellular level. We are literally made of and behave like what we cumulatively eat.
-True healing can feel very uncomfortable, and sometimes even painful at first. It can be enough to trick you into thinking the opposite is happening. The real healing path zig zags around a bit and takes time and distance to be able to really see the long term results.
-Exercise is important for moving the detoxifying lymph system and stimulating self-healing. Coming from disability, even if all you can do is gentle stretching for a minute at a time, at least do that until your body allows for more. Little by little, it adds up and reconnects the body and brain. Find exercises that you enjoy and rotate them. Even leisure walking counts. Listen to music or audio books, or watch TV or videos if it helps to keep you on track. Make it your sacred personal you-time. Energy and endurance come with patience and consistency.
-Don’t weigh or judge yourself in the mirror constantly. Weigh once in the beginning and then maybe once a month, if that. Be comfortable and secure in knowing that you are doing everything in your power. Take before pictures and then ignore the mirror for a while. Just focus every day on doing all the right things for your body regardless of how quickly the scale or reflection moves. Bodies have their own list of priorities, and disease reversal may be higher up on that list than weight loss/gain.
-Especially at first, not everyone will understand you. Expect to be used as a mirror to reflect other people’s insecurities about their own journeys. Understand that you will trigger their insecurities and self-doubts just by minding your own business and doing your healing thing. Some won’t be able to handle it, or really, seeing themselves in you. That’s okay. There’s no need to fight against them because it’s not your fight. Send them love and let them go. Some will mature and come back. Some won’t. It’s okay. You aren’t obligated to stop succeeding because it makes others feel uncomfortable about themselves.
-Don’t overthink it. You don’t need fancy equipment or raw processors or gadgets in order to succeed. You don’t need complicated time-consuming recipes with tons of ingredients. You don’t need expensive imported tropical fruits. You can make this work for your location and circumstances no matter what, even if you have to grow part of your supply yourself. Buy in bulk and offer to buy “overripe” which really means ripe in stores to get discounts. Make friends with produce dealers. Monitor sales. Shop at multiple stores/farms. Discover local co-ops. Learn the local produce seasons. Implement a ripening rotation. Freeze extras for emergencies. Keep it simple. Meals can be one or two ingredients. Where there is a will, there is a way. It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, even though learning a new way of living takes some conscious effort and a little research at first. It all becomes second nature in no time.
-Never forget your reasons why you have decided to take this journey and why you have made up your mind that you MUST succeed. Never forget how far you’ve come and always appreciate all the little steps of progress along the way. Find gratitude. Be gentle with yourself. The results are worth it and so are you.
